Under the overall supervision of the Dean of the WIPO Academy, the incumbent will advise and contribute to the implementation of the mandate of the Academy, inter alia, the following activities:
identify and analyze the needs of developing countries, collectively and/or individually, to tailor technical assistance programs for human resources development in the field of intellectual property (IP);
assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of training and education programs for developing countries and countries with economies in transition with the view of promoting a better understanding of the relevance and importance of IP;
assist in the implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements with academic institutions and/or national and regional IP offices aimed at promoting the teaching and training of intellectual property;
conduct training of trainers programs and other educational programs of the Academy, in particular the organization and administration of joint degree/diploma programs with universities and the development of curriculum for different disciplines and different academic levels;
conduct training programs for different authorities and circles such as the academia, students, government officials, IP professionals, judges, diplomats, as well as the private sector;
prepare working documents, reports, presentations and other relevant material, on the work and activities of the Academy as well as on teaching and training in the field of intellectual property;
assist in the coordination of cooperation with other international organizations in the offering of training programs in the field of intellectual property;
maintain contacts with the permanent missions in Geneva, government authorities and universities on issues pertaining to the work programs of the Academy;
represent the Organization and participate at external national, regional and international events organized by other entities; and
perform other duties of the Academy as required.
